Christ the King (Classic Reprint) Christ the King (Classic Reprint) PDF By author James Mitchell Foster last download was at 2017-08-06 03:37:02. This book is good alternative for The Future of the Kanaka (Classic Reprint). Download now for free or you can read online Christ the King (Classic Reprint) book. Excerpt from Christ the King I. It is based on false views of Christ's Person. Our Lord is not a human person. From eternity to eternity He is a Divine person. He took human nature into union with His Divine person, but the personality resides in the divine nature. What He said and did in human nature has moral character only as they are the sayings and doings of a Divine person. A Divine person was baptized at the Jordan, preached the Sermon on the Mount and died upon the cross. The Son of God who created the worlds, by whom all things consist, who gave the Ten Commandments at Sinai, gave the laws respecting the State, during the days of H is flesh, which have all the authority of the decrees of God. The people were astonished at his doctrine; for He spake as one having authority and not as the scribes. The solar system, the circulation of the blood, marriage, the Sabbath and civil government, are natural orders. They existed before the incar nation, and even before the dispensation of grace began in Eden. But they were ordained by the Son of God, and as Mediator made subject to His hand. All things are put under Him. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book is good alternative for The Future of the Kanaka (Classic Reprint). Download now for free or you can read online Social Theory (Classic Reprint) book. Excerpt from Social Theory Round a single point - the nature and function of the State. On this point I have been led to modify my former View so as to recognise that many of the arguments Which I used to justify the assigning of certain social functions to the State in fact only justify their assigning to some body which, like the modern State, is structurally inclusive in that all the members of the community are also its members. I had already hinted, in the first edition, that the functions Which require to be performed by an inclusive association might well be divided among several such associations, as they call for different types of capacity and relate to essentially different groups of questions (see p. I have now put this point of view much more strongly, without attempting to develop at allits practical implications. My conclusions on this question, as well as a prac tical development of the theories on which this book is based, Will be found more fully set out in the two chapters dealing With the Structure and Work ing of the Commune in my Guild Socialism. Excerpt from Electrical Engineering Measuring Instruments for Commercial and Laboratory Since the electrical engineering industry began to show signs of rapid development, numerous types and forms of measuring instruments have been devised by different inventors. Many of these are now obsolete, having given place to instruments with greater refinements and on better principles. Though several of these obsolete types are extremely interesting. And, indeed, instructive, they have not been described in the present work. If information regarding them is required, it will be found in the abridged patent specifications since about 1880. Only those instruments in actual and extensive use at the present day are here considered. And these form so large a body that it seems better not to try to deal with the historical portion of the subject. This book is good alternative for The Future of the Kanaka (Classic Reprint). Download now for free or you can read online From Gild to Factory : A First Short Course of Economic History (Classic Reprint) book. Excerpt from From Gild to Factory: A First Short Course of Economic History The following pages attempt to drive such a shaft - a very slender one - through the mass of our economic history. By its purpose such work must be judged. Far from being intended as in any way a substitute for the study of such works as those enumerated in the List of Authors, these pages will have failed of their purpose if they do not incite a few more students to the study of those very works. Therefore it becomes needless to say how the author is indebted to each and all of them. This little book is founded on those works, and contains little or nothing that cannot be read in further detail in some one or more of them, and nothing at all save what the author earnestly hopes may be so studied. In preparing the Second Edition the opportunity has been taken to comply with the suggestions of experience in using the book for teaching pur poses, and certain omissions have been supplied and some corrections made; whilst in one important respect - Trade Union Law-the narrative has been continued to include more recent legislation. Excerpt from The Story of a Story, and Other Stories The author turned on his couch uneasily as he was dictating the final paragraphs of his story. His Wife sat writing at a table by the window. In the little square far down below them there were signs of spring; the first touch of warmer weather had been felt, and the trees were beginning to bud out timidly. The afternoon sun fell aslant the floor in long lines of feeble light. The invalid looked out towards the west and caught a glimpse of the floating clouds red dening as the day waned. He gazed at them as though anxious to borrow their golden hues to color his words. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. On account of the elementary character of the book, only the simpler portions of the subject have been touched upon at all; and much care has been taken to make all the developments as clear as possible every important step being illustrated by easy examples. Excerpt from Geographical and Industrial Studies South America The northern part Of North America is the coldest part Of the continent, and the widest part is in the temperate zone. In South America it is the narrow southern tip which stretches into the cold belt, while the widest part lies under the equator. More Of South America than Of any other continent except Africa lies in the torrid zone, but, strange to say, the climate Of a large part of this area is so cold that little or nothing will grow. This is because it is so high. Por tions of Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia consist Of a plateau more than two miles high, bounded on either side by ranges Of the Andes Mountains. When traveling in these bleak, cold regions it will be hard for us to realize that they are as near the equator as are the low, hot jungles Of Brazil. Excerpt from The Ideal Theory of Berkeley, and the Real World: Free Thoughts on Berkeley, Idealism, and Metaphysics
About one-fourth of this volume was published some months since, in a small spirited Irish periodical. It is now given to the public not only enlarged in matter, but also altered in form. I am not so contracted in View, and vain in expecta tion, as to think that it will settle the vexed question between the realist and the idealist. If it will in any way advance knowledge, and cast a ray of light on any dark spot on the canvass of human vision, it will satisfy my expectation and wish.
The book is not intended for the advanced and the erudite; but for those who aspire after advancement and knowledge, and receive with gratitude any light and assistance, from whatever quarter they may come. The intent is, to give within a narrow compass, some acquaintance with Berkeley's theory, to those who have not studied his works for themselves it aims also to help and encourage the student of metaphysical science, in his lonely and persevering efforts.

What purer or more spiritual love do we know than that of the mother for her child? And yet with itself is it never con tent, but rushes out and infuses itself into a thousand words, tendernesses, ceremonies, and Observances; builds a temple, erects an altar, and becomes there the all-unselfish and minis tering priestess of God to evoke from brutish apathy the heavenly thoughts and divine in stincts of the heart of man; watches, prays, is patient, wearies not, stoops to all lowliness and is ennobled; fondles, caresses, speaks words of softest music, chides, threatens, rebukes; the truest, the deepest, the most ceremonial, Of all human devotions is this love which gives to the world its worthiest men. Excerpt from The Life and Times of Salvator Rosa As the poet of liberty, Salvator takes his place among the high priests of her altars in Italy - Dante, Petrarch, Tasso, filacajla. He rendered even philosophy familiar to the eye, when, by the double despotism of Church and State, its truths were prohibited from meeting the understand ing; and while Galileo was condemned to death for proving that the earth moved, Salvator, unsuspected and unpunished, painted, in allegories of artistic excellence, theories at least as dangerous. Did Salvator live now, one might fancy him Joining the ranks of the gallant defenders of national independence and civilisation, standing out, like one of his own bold figures, upon the heights of Balaklava, pencil in hand and revolver in belt, realising for the homage of posterity the grand battle ragin'g below, till, borne away by his kindling sympathies, he fiings down his pencil, and, plunging into the me'z'e'e meets a glorious death or shares a not less glorious triumph. Excerpt from Editha's Burglar: A Story for Children She was very fond of the newspapers, because she found SO many curious things in them, stories, for instance, of strange events which happened every day in the great city of London, and yet never seemed to happen anywhere near where she lived. Through the newspapers, she found that there were actually men who lived by breaking into peoples' houses and stealing all the nice things they could carry away, and she read that such men were called burglars. When she first began to read about burglars, she was very much troubled. In the first place, she felt rather timid about going to bed at night, and, in the second place, she felt rather sorry for the burglars. I suppose no one ever taught them any better, she thought. This book is good alternative for The Future of the Kanaka (Classic Reprint). Download now for free or you can read online The Philosophy of the Christian Religion (Classic Reprint) book. Excerpt from The Philosophy of the Christian Religion
The assertion of the unbeliever in Revelation, that the Christian builds his hopes upon a blind faith, is unjust and groundless; for no faith can grow out of a revelation that reason does not first approve. The difficulty in the way of the unbeliever is, that his reason has become incrusted with the world and lost in the labyrinth of his worldly passions, and he resists the Spirit of God, that alone can open up his reason to a sublime faith in the truth of revelation.
The aim of every one should be to discover and follow truth, and especially that truth which the Scripture has revealed to us, as paramount to all earthly considerations. Heaven itself does not begin after death, but in this life. Its germs must sprout and grow while here, in the divinest archives of the soul. "The heart sees before the head," and feels the object of its search to be among the possibilities, before it can ever be admitted to the high court of reason.
